John Bazata, 92, of Holmes Beach, passed away on November 12, 2017.

John was one of nine children born and raised in NYC. His parents were immigrants from Hungry.

He proudly served in the Army during WW II. He and his future wife were pen-pals during that time. They married in 1946 after John was discharged. He was always a true gentleman with his wife.

They moved to eastern Long Island and raised three children, Carmen, John and Martin, in a house he built himself. He was know as an extremely hard working man who did whatever he needed to do provide for his family. He was always available to attend soccer games and other school activities.

His pastimes included hunting and fishing; he was a craftsman who could create something out of nothing. All of his children have mementos from his crafts, from fan blade and shell art, as well as memories of artistic food presentations.

Each of his six grandchildren and four great grandchildren were special to him. Grandpa’s interests became a part of all of his grandchildren, from fishing, hunting, carpentry and love of family.

Dad touched many many people, from the his children, grandchildren, other family member’s as well as the countless co-workers he encountered during his decades of work. Since his passing, the phone and social media have been alive with condolences and anecdotes about Dad.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at 3:00 pm at Shannon Funeral Home Westview Chapel.
