Chesley H. Johnson, III, 56, Bradenton, passed away June 16, 2015.

Chesley was born on August 14, 1958 in Boston, Massachusetts to the late Chesley H. Jr. and Ethel (Johnson) Johnson. He served his country faithfully during peacetime with the United States Army. Following his military service he owned his own carpet installation business in Millbury, MA.

In 1995 he moved to Manatee County and worked for various local carpet dealers as an installer. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans Post in Bradenton.

Chesley was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Joan Morris. He is survived by his longtime loving companion of over 20 years, Sandra O’Neal of Bradenton, four children; Chesley H. Johnson IV and Katisia Johnson both of Maine, Jackie and Alyssa Johnson of Worcester, MA, one step-son; Jason O’Neal of Bradenton, two step-daughters; Tara O’Neal of Worcester, Massachusetts, Amy O’Neal of Bradenton, one brother, Rick John Rumford III of Florida and Massachusetts, four sister; Gail Kapulka, Karen Craig of Massachusetts, Donna Brown of California, Robin Black of Massachusetts and Jamaica, eight step-grandchildren; Johnny Moreno of Madrid, Spain, Jared O’Neal of Bradenton, Johnny Mercado of Worcester, Massachusetts, Darviarnna Johnson of Bradenton, Jayden and Nathan O’Neal of Sarasota, Jayceon Velez of Worcester, Massachusetts, Yolina Ruiz of Bradenton, long time best friend, Charlie McChesney and many extended family members and friends.

Committal services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at the Sarasota National Cemetery with military honors by the United States Army.

The family request that in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society in his memory.
