Farren R. Dakin

Farren Romanus Dakin was born on September 18, 1954 in Farmington, Maine. He entered Heaven’s gates on September 3, 2020. Farren is survived by his wife of 42 years, Christina 'Shelly' Dakin, their daughter Erin Dakin Drake (Joey Drake) his grandchildren, Leah Dakin, Eden Drake, Levi Dakin, Jr., Joe (Trace) Drake, Rylee Dakin and Elle Drake. He is also survived by his brothers, Cameron, Jerry and Rodney, three sister-n-laws, one brother-n-law and mother- n- law Ouida Carter (Robert Carter) and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving son, Levi Matthew Dakin, his father, Romanus Dakin and mother, Jeanette Dakin.

Farren had an unwavering faith in God. When someone was having a rough day, his most memorable question was 'Are you going to trust God?' He attended Bayside Community Church. Over the many years, Farren was always willing to support his local churches, the Wee Care Christian Academy and many others in Myakka City many times donating his time and animals for auctions. He loved his community!the Myakka City Community Center, Inc. in Myakka City many times donating his time and animals for auctions. He loved his community. Farren, a Manatee County Dairy farmer for 44 years, was an innovator and a passionate farmer always thinking outside the box. He was known for his excellent skills in growing crops and a fall garden each year. Farren and Shelly started dairy farming in east Bradenton first then moved their Dairy farm to Myakka City in 1980. Over the many years, he and Shelly mentored many children for 4-H and FFA clubs. He was always willing to help children pick out their own dairy cows and steers to show in the county and state fairs but let the children make the final decision. He and Shelly also purchased many steers, hogs and plants over the years at the fair to help the children often purchasing steers or hogs from the children that were not able to show their animals in the fair. He loved helping children achieve their goals. He was a member of numerous local clubs such as the Manatee County Cattlemen's Association, the Florida Dairy Farmers and many others. He made the most out of every day. He was a loyal friend, forgiving, generous and impossible to forget.

The family will receive friends at Bayside Community Church located at

15800 Sr-64 E, Bradenton, FL  on Friday, September 11th from 11:00 am to 1:00pm immediately followed by a service celebrating his life at 1:00pm.
