Fred Allen Bell, Jr., age 79, of Bradenton, Florida, passed away on June 16, 2023 at Manatee Memorial Hospital due to a chronic medical condition with his family by his side. Just like in life Fred managed his illness with strength and grace and wanted tospend as much time with his loved ones as possible.
My father was born in Morgantown, WV on June 26, 1943, to Fred Allen Bell Sr. and Mabel (Calhoun) Bell. He was one of four children. The oldest sibling was Arveta (Bell)Savage who was married to Don Savage. Both of them have passed away and is in Heaven with their loved ones. My dad was the second child. His brother, Terry Bell, was the third child. Terry is married to Darla (Mauro) Bell. They currently live in Hudson, Florida. The youngest sibling of the four is Linda (Bell) Rech. Linda is married to Bill Rech. They reside in Philadelphia, PA. Fred was a businessman for 36 years in Bradenton, Florida (1987-2023). He owned and operated Oneco Wheels, Inc DBA Bell and Sons Quality Cars selling/financing used cars. Prior to that, he operated Bell Brothers Motor Sales in Oakland, Maryland with his brother, Terry Bell (1976-1987). After graduating from Southern High School (Oakland, Maryland- 1961), Fred was enlisted in the United States Air Force under the Strategic Air Command (1962-1968).
In his spare time, Fred would often volunteer at Oneco Methodist Church in Bradenton, Florida, St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, and in the Oakland Lion’s Club, both in Oakland, Maryland. Fred also loved spending time on the water, fishing, boating, and working outdoors in his yard, watching the Tampa Bay Rays and Buccaneers, and time with his family and friends. Fred was a kind and loving partner to his spouse Joyce Ann (Groves) Bell for 62 years, as well as an amazing father to their three children: Cindy Ann Bell (deceased), Fred Allen Bell, III and his wife Shannon (Livengood) Bell [Bradenton, Florida], and Jane Allison (Bell) Wildesen and her husband Ed Wildesen [Oakland, Maryland]. Fred was blessed to have five grandchildren: Scott Wildesen and his wife Jade Wildesen [Hagerstown, Maryland], Abby (Wildesen) Dayton and her husband Pat Dayton [Cranberry, Pennsylvania], Kyle Bell, Alec Bell and his wife Mariah Bell, and Nikolas Bell [Bradenton, Florida], and four great-grandchildren: Danica and Garrett Wildesen and Hank and Lulu Belle Dayton. The family will hold two private memorial services to celebrate the life of Fred Bell. One will be held in Bradenton, Florida, and the second will be held in Oakland, Maryland. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations made in Fred’s honor go towards the Oakland Lion’s Club [P.O. Box 92 Oakland, Maryland, 21550].
