Deloris Carden, lovingly known to many as "Butch," passed away on May 2, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on February 17, 1941, Deloris dedicated much of her life to her career as a Tax Collector, serving her community with integrity and steadfast commitment.
A devoted Tampa Bay Bucs fan, Deloris found joy in following her favorite team through every season. Her passion extended beyond sports into her home, which she lovingly adorned each year with festive decorations, especially for Christmas, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for family and friends to gather. Known for her exceptional cooking, Deloris delighted those around her with meals crafted from the heart, nourishing not only bodies but spirits as well.
More than her personal interests, Deloris cherished the time spent with her loved ones. She was affectionately regarded as the neighborhood mom, a testament to the kindness and nurturing nature she showed to all who crossed her path. Her home was often a hub of warmth, laughter, and connection, embodying the spirit of community she so dearly valued.
Deloris is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, James Carden, whose partnership has been a cornerstone of her life. She also leaves behind her sons, Patrick Carden and Timothy S. Carden, who carry forward her legacy of love and strength.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oren Carten and Mezzie Carter, who undoubtedly shaped the remarkable woman she became. Also departed are her cherished daughter dog, Snickers, and her god dog son, R.J, companions who brought her joy and comfort.
Deloris Carden's life was marked by dedication to family, service to her community, and a genuine warmth that touched all who knew her. Her memory will continue to inspire and comfort those she leaves behind, a lasting testament to a life well-lived and a heart deeply loved.
