Jackie Sue Gouveia

Jackie Sue Gouveia (Wirt) age 79 from Bradenton Florida passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025, after a prolonged battle with health-related issues and dementia.

Jackie was born in Covington, VA on June 9, 1946, to Richard “Okie” Wirt and Doris Lorine Wirt.

She grew up in Accokeek, Maryland attending Gwynn Park High School. After graduating high school, she married the love of her life John Fernandes Gouveia, Jr on October 9,1965, and was a devoted and loving wife for nearly 60 years of marriage. 

Together they had two children, John Fernandes Gouveia, III (Petula Gouveia) of Fort Wayne, IN and Jonelle Lorine Jones (Steven Jones) of Aldie, VA. 

She was a proud and loving grandmother to seven grandchildren Kailie Jones (William Jones), Colin Gouveia (Hannah Gouveia), Alyson Stephenson (Jared Stephenson), Cameron Jones (Abby Jones), John F Gouveia IV, Kyrstin Gouveia and Kelsie Jones.

Additionally, she was blessed with one great grandchild Ellie Jones and another due in November 2025. 

Jackie dedicated a big portion of her life caring for her kids but also worked various office and management jobs where she was highly regarded by her colleagues. In her spare time Jackie loved creating and was an expert in quilting, needlework, crocheting, and receiving various awards for her work. 

She was very devoted to her beloved pet Snickers who preceded her in death. 

Jackie expressly chose to be cremated with no services at this time. This cremation will be handled by Shannon Funeral Home and her ashes will be kept by her husband until they reunite in heaven and at that point she will be buried alongside him at the Sarasota National Cemetery.
