James Timothy Lester(Tim), 77, passed away peacefully at his home on January 11, 2026, surrounded by his children. After beginning his career as a police officer with the City of Richmond, Virginia, he and his wife, Nancy, relocated to Bradenton, Florida, in 1973 to be closer to his mother.
Together, they built a home in Palmetto Point, where he resided continuously since 1974.He went on to serve the City of Bradenton Fire Department for 30 years, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant. Following retirement, he devoted his time to caring for his family, saltwater fishing, and enjoying the natural beauty of Terra Ceia Bay. Born on June 1, 1948, in West Virginia, he was the son of the late Earl and Gladys Lester.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy; his sister, Emily; and his brother, Charles.
He is survived by his daughter, Cindy Echols (David); his son, Tim Lester (Erryn); and his grandchildren, Wyatt Echols, Ella Lester, and Avery Lester, all of Palmetto, Florida. He is also survived by his brother, Raymond Lester (Dalane), of North Carolina.
