In Loving Memory, Janet Elizabeth Poelsma (Slocum) October 4, 1965 – July 22, 2025 ⸻ "Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure"
Janet Elizabeth Poelsma, 59, of Bradenton, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2025. Born in Waterbury, Connecticut, on October 4, 1965, she made her home — and her heart — in Bradenton for most of her life.
She was the beloved wife of Edward Poelsma for 33 wonderful years, a devoted mother to Chelsea Rachide (Poelsma) , Macy Poelsma, and Marshall Poelsma, and the cherished “Omi” of Finn (16), Kadin (15), Ethan (13), Griffin (5), and Owen (2) Rachide.
Janet was a radiant soul who lived through creativity. As an avid stained glass artist, she brought color and light to everything she touched. She had a deep love for nature, a lifelong passion for reading, and found joy working as a photographer for Beall’s. In her spare time, she could be found behind the scenes at the local theater, volunteering as a stagehand — content in the quiet magic of storytelling.
More than her talents, Janet will be remembered for the way she celebrated life. She had a gift for making moments meaningful, turning everyday joys into treasured memories. Her love was boundless, her laughter contagious, and her spirit deeply rooted in kindness.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. ⸻ In her memory, the family invites you to take a peaceful walk, sip a cup of tea, or create something beautiful — just as Janet did every day.
