Lynn Carol Leavitt, age 71, of Bradenton, FL, formerly of Quincy, died Monday, June 9, 2025.
Lynn was born April 17, 1954, in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Forrest J. and Carol A. Hermeling Karmer. She married Rossetter "Rusty" Leavitt on May 15, 1976, Seward, NE.
Lynn was a graduate of Quincy Senior High School, where she excelled in band, specializing in playing the trumpet. She went on to attain a Bachelors Degree in Education from Concordia Teachers College in Seward, Nebraska. Lynn's teaching career took her to many places, including St. Louis, MO, Sioux City, IA, Texas, and Florida. Her musical talent, evident from an early age, continued to manifest itself throughout her life. In her spare time, Lynn enjoyed playing the piano as well as the guitar. She also loved to take long walks in nature. She was a member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Bradenton, FL, where she was a talented member of the Bell Choir. Above all else, Lynn was a loving and dedicated wife and mother, who loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Lynn is survived by her beloved husband, Rusty, her five sons, John (Natalia) Leavitt of Lake Worth Beach, FL, Jamie (Kristin) Leavitt of North Palm Beach, FL, Christian (Cami) Leavitt of Bradenton, FL, Nathan (Brooke) Leavitt of Lakeland, FL, and Peter Leavitt of Bradenton, FL; and grandchildren, Victoria-Maria, Benjamin, Landon, Jett, Louella, Layton, Hope, Tommy, and two more on the way.
Lynn was preceded in death by her parents, Forrest and Carol Karmer; and her sister, Jan Karmer.
Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Greenmount Cemetery in Quincy, IL, with Pastor Rusty Leavitt officiating. Burial to follow.
