Norman D. Barley of Palmetto, FL passed away peacefully on January 7th, 2026, at Bay Pines Veterans Hospital in St Pete, FL. He was born in Lancaster, PA to the late Harvey and Elizabeth Barley. Norm is survived by his sister Betty Koby of Bradenton, and 4 nieces; Mary Hansen, Julie Woolary, Betty Romeo and Louise Amato, who affectionately called him 'Uncle Don'. He is also survived by 10 great-nieces and nephews whom he adored. Norm was predeceased by his parents, his niece Linda Stephenson and his brother and traveling buddy, John Barley.
Norm was a proud Marine, serving his country from 1955 to 1965. He was a machinist, then worked for the McDonalds Corporation for over 30 years. Norm was also a proud member of the Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary for over 30 years, retiring with the rank of Lt Colonel.
Funeral services will be held on February 21st, 2026 at 10 am at Shannon's Funeral Home in downtown Bradenton. Interment will be at the Sarasota National Cemetary at a later date. There will be a luncheon at Popi's Restaurant in Ellenton immediately after the service for all who would like to attend to celebrate the life of a good and caring man.
