It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joan Garside of Palmetto, Florida, who passed away on November 5, 2021, at the age of 100.
She was the beloved wife of the late Jack Garside.
Born in Hyde, Cheshire, England, the eldest child of the late Albert Hill, V.C., and Doris (Wilson) Hill, she was raised in Pawtucket, and lived for many years in Lincoln, before moving to Florida thirty years ago.
Mrs. Garside worked as an office worker at the former Coats and Clark Co., Pawtucket and the former American Tourister, Lincoln.
An avid golfer, she was a former member of Lincoln Country Club. She was a member and Past Matron of the Limerock Chapter, #26, O.E.S. She also enjoyed traveling and ballroom dancing with her husband.
She was the sister of the late Joyce Ervey, Lawrence Hill and Hazeldean Cheetham, and is also survived by many nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews; and great great nieces and great great nephews. She also leaves behind her wonderful friends and neighbors from Imperial Lakes to whom her family will always be grateful for their love and support. Joan will be missed by all who knew her.
Her funeral, with burial in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston, will be private. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory to a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated.
